Hello everyone, I hope you are all having an amazing day. As you can see from the title of this blog post, this article will be all about my perfect imperfections. I have seen this tag going around for a couple of weeks now and I found it incredibly refreshing to see so many bloggers and youtubers share their favourite traits about themselves and what they consider being their flaws. Just like everyone else, I have a lot of things I am insecure about, but I learned to embrace them as they are what makes us unique! I took a few pictures from my previous blog post to show you exactly what I am referencing. Rest assure that I feel completely fine with all of these traits these days!
My Imperfections
1. My Legs
This might come to a surprise especially to my friends, but my legs have been a big insecurity for me for years. I find them very big and muscular. I used to do taekwondo for 10 years which definitely helped shaping them. I used to feel very bulky and manly because of my legs but now I totally embrace them! I continue to workout every week and I have to say that legs day are my favourite days at the gym 😉
2. My Nose
I have to thanks my dad for my big flat nose (and my big legs)! This again was another big insecurity to me when I was young, especially during my teenage years. I have learned to love it in its own way and I have to say that the contour trend definitely helped me in this process! I need to give a big shoutout to all my contouring powders 😉
3. My Skin
My third flaw is my biggest insecurity. As you may know by reading my skincare posts, I suffer from oily and acne prone skin. I do get occasional blemishes here and there but my main struggle is my acne scars. My skin general do not recovery very fast and well from any scar or bruise. I get a lot of scars and hyperpigmentation spots, especially on my cheeks. I am able to walk around without makeup though! It took me a few years to be able to be completely bare face in front of my friends and family members, but now that I get a little older, I am not care as much as as before.
4. Personality Trait I Need To Work On – Bonus
Overthinking. I am not someone who always overthink and overthink everything, but when I do it is not fun. I try to stay objective and rational at all times, especially knowing that I can be very emotional. This is something I really need to work on and I have made so much progress in the past years. Overthinking and giving too much of my attention about irrelevant things are my biggest challenges!
Traits I like About Myself
1. My Eyes
I am very grateful to have inherited of my father’s eyes and lashes. A great amount of people tell me I have big eyes and long lashes, especially for an asian. As you can see from all of my pictures on the blog or on Instagram, I have double eyelids which helps (and a killer mascara combo that plays a big part too)!
2. My Smile
My eyes and my smile are the two traits I get the most compliments on. A lot of people I meet tell me I have a very genuine and inviting smile, which I did not know I had until a couple of years ago. I was very insecure about my smile, especially my teeth when I was a child as I had a big gap between my two front teeth. I then had braces for 18 months and have a nicer smile thanks to my orthodontist!
3. My Hair (On Good Days)
I also get so many compliments about my hair! I naturally have a lot of hair (merci Maman) and thin hair (merci Papa). This beautiful combination makes it very easy to style it. They hold curls pretty well which is also a challenge for asian hair. And of course, my natural hair is pretty straight, without being too flat. My hair colour is always on point thanks to the amazing stylist at Blome. All the credits go to them!
4. Personality Trait I Do Like About Myself – Bonus
My Positivity. Being (or looking 😉 ) positive and being bubbly are two of the most common things my friends tell about me. I always try to look at the positive side even if it is not the easiest thing to do. I have dealt with so much pressure and negativity in the past that I now let go of all the negative vibes that surround me. I switch my focus on the little things I enjoy in life and it honestly makes me so much happier. I of course have down time and moments where I get angry, sick, annoyed and more – we are all human after all!
Here are my perfect imperfections! I hope you enjoyed this post even if it was a little bit more personal than my previous blog posts. We all have insecurities and instead of hating them, we should all embrace them as they are part of who we are. Let me know if you guys did this tag as I would love to read them! I will see you all in my next one <3
