My Barcelona Postcards

Sara Hudson

About a month ago, I booked a trip to Barcelona to fully live the European life experience. If you have never been in Europe, let me tell you that once you are here, traveling to other cities and countries is incredibly easy and affordable. I just had to book my first getaway weekend even if I have been living in Montpellier for only 2 weeks!

My roommate Sofia was the one who came up with this genius idea. As we were casually talking about trips we had in mind, she asked if I wanted to go to Barcelona. I have been to this gorgeous city 4 years ago and loved it so much. To refuse was simply not an option. We booked our bus tickets as well as our airbnb for 2 nights – it only cost us 108€ per person. A true bargain!

As you can see from the pictures, we visited so many different neighbourhoods. We of course had to quickly stop and take a quick look at the beyond extraordinary Sagrada Familia. This unfinished Roman Catholic church is filled with history. Just to think its construction started in 1882 designed by Antoni Gaudi and is still under construction 137 years later! Right after our quick visit, we took a walk in the Parc Guëll where we stopped to see the beautiful cityscape of Barcelona.

We spent our entire weekend discovering La Rambla and the surrounding neighbourhoods. If you are an avid shopper looking for local artists, designers and small shops, you will be in heaven. I simply wanted to buy everything I saw and bring them all back with me. La Barceloneta is a small neighbourhood right beside the sea, perfect to enjoy seafood and tapas with a magnificent view on the harbour. Dozens of yatchs were all lined up in the marina which is connected to the beach by a long palm-lined promenade. We also walked in the Gothic Quarter with its narrow medieval streets filled with trendy restaurants and bars. Simply beautiful!

Churros, sangria and paella. Being the incredibly big foodie that I am, I simply had to taste everything. If you followed me on Instagram this specific weekend, you would have seen that I actually ate churros every. single. day.

If you are looking for a city where you can eat amazing food, shop exquisite pieces, decor and accessories, relax near the water and simply let your mind wander, I highly recommend you to visit Barcelona. The culture, the architecture, the overall charm of the city and of the people will leave you enchanted!
