Summer has not been very kind and generous to us in Montreal. With rainy days and humid temperatures, I decided to stop relying on the weather to plan my summer activities. To celebrate my very own arrival of summer, I threw a little indoors picnic right at home. My friends and I had everything we love most: fruits, pastries and most importantly coffee. Nespresso released two new limited edition capsules specifically crafted for ice just in time for summer: Leggero on Ice and Intenso on Ice. We had the perfect occasion to try them out and add them to our indoor girls’ time.
Leggero and Intenso on Ice are mild coffees designed to bring a fresh and delicate drink at home. We decided to go with two recipes, the original on ice coffee drink and the iced macchiato with milk froth. It was my very first time trying out Nespresso’s recipes and coffees at home. I was delightfully surprised to see how simple it was to have refreshing and tasteful coffee right at my own place!
To create my iced beverages, I used my Nespresso CitiZ & Milk, which is incredibly user-friendly. The updated retro-modern design has an integrated milk frother that you can use for hot and cold drinks. I absolutely love this machine, as it is fast, efficient and incredibly easy to use. It took a few seconds to have a tastefully aromatized coffee. The Nespresso on Ice coffees have a subtle acidity and developed aromatics that reveal themselves on ice. They were the perfect addition and the completing key element to our picnic.
To recreate these iced coffees, simply follow these instructions. For a simple On Ice beverage, add ice cubes in your glass, add one or two Nespresso capsules in the glass depending if you like your coffee light or strong, and finally pour in 3oz of cold water. For an On Ice Macchiato, add ice cubes in your glass, add one or two Nespresso capsules and finally add 3oz of milk froth.
